To My Clients
My experience in the field has taught me a great deal about how to help my clients heal and move forward in their lives. The most rewarding part of my work is seeing clients progress and make breakthroughs. Trauma can take away a person's ability to be present in their life and can cause emotional problems. Using the tools of mindfulness and EMDR therapy I will help you regain your sense of self, heal your wounded parts, and learn to be open to experiences. I incorporate DBT skills into my work which translates to giving you tools to use outside of session to help improve mood and increase insight.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with more than 20 years experience working in mental health. I specialize in treating anxiety and PTSD and have experience working with grief, depression, bipolar disorder, and schizoaffective disorder. In therapy, I use a mix of Dialectal Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and EMDR therapy. I enjoy teaching my clients mindfulness skills as an integral part of treatment. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from U.C. Berkeley and my Master’s Degree from Florida Atlantic University.
My Personal Beliefs
Each one of us has basic goodness and the inherent potential for healing. I believe in a concept called turning poison into medicine. According to this principle we are able take our struggles and transform them into an opportunity for healing. These beliefs are an essential part of my work. As a therapist I strive to help clients tap into their goodness, use it to heal old wounds, and discover their path to happiness.
